Thanks to the Society of Eukaryotic Microbiology, formerly known as the German Society of Protozoology, we had a rare opportunity to attend a conference in winter. Through Elisabeth’s keynote lecture and Kacper’s regular session talk, we presented aspects of the evolution of dinoflagellate plastids to the audience at the 44thmeeting of the Society, held in the beautiful city of Neuchâtel.
