In the first half of July we had the great opportunity to go sampling with the Advanced Mobile Lab (AML) from EMBL Heidelberg, hosted by the Toralla Marine Science Station (ECIMAT) from the University of Vigo. Joining Kazuya and Elisabeth, Christina and Leïla went on their first sampling trip to isolate dinoflagellates for single-cell transcriptomics and cultivation. Utilizing the COPAS Vision Imaging Sorter of the AML, together with manual isolation, we identified many different exciting dinoflagellate cells. We also met with collaborators from the University of Vigo and EMBL Heidelberg and visited the impressive culture collection of the IEO Centro Oceanográfico de Vigo.
